U..S. Mint Unveils New Nickel
I don't know what was wrong with the old nickel, but we have a
new design for some reason. What is this obsession the U.S. Mint seems to have with Lewis and Clark? First the
Sacagawea golden dollar which only served to prove that Amercans really don't like dollar coins, and now a Lewis and Clark nickel. I don't mean to mean minimize the importance of the
Lewis and Clark expedition , by any means, but don't we have any other people of historical interest we can honor? You can check out
The Birth of a Coin from
www.usmint.gov starring "Goldie the Mint Fish" if you would like to see a cartoon version of how coins are made. The fish is a little weird, but the animation is pretty cute.
