Turn your PC into an ant farm!
Just when I thought I had too much time on my hands and spent too much time playing with my computers I read about this guy, who turned one side of his PC case into an actual ant farm. Of course if you want a silly pseudo-pet you could just shell out a few bucks for some Sea Monkeys. I had Sea Monkeys when I was a kid, and they lived for a pretty long time, until I went away to camp, and my Mom let the water in the tank evaporate. (At least the gerbils survived the summer.) To this day, every time I see them for sale I want to buy more.
