Is it me....
Or is the
Nite Brite Nemo the scariest looking toy ever?
NASA, good and bad
The final, scathing report on the
Columbia disaster has been released, and it details "persistent, systemic flaws" and "echoes" of Challenger. I remember reading the Challenger report in high school, and being appalled that such a thing could have been allowed to happen, and it amazes me that seventeen years later safety still does not seem to be a primary concern at NASA.
On a (much) lighter note, an unbelievable
photograph of Mars was taken by the Hubble Space Telescope yesterday, with a second one to be released later today. (Thereby proving that even NASA gets things right every once in a while, although I believe it was Dave Barry who used the expression "Hubble Giant Orbiting Space Paperweight" during the years in which it didn't perform quite so well.)
Lord of the Rings Extended Editions coming to the big screen
According to
a story on theonering.net, the special extended editions of the Fellowship of the Ring and the Two Towers will be released in theatres two weeks before
the Return of the King arrives. I wish they were releasing them now. I could use eight hours in an air conditioned theatre right now.
61% of people are really, really cheap
According to a
Billlboard.com poll, 61% of people felt that 99 cents was too much to pay for a single song download. Give me a break, people! It's a buck! Personally, I would have been willing to pay a buck for a quality song back in 1999, instead of enduring the hit or miss of poor quality, incorrectly named Napster downloads.
