Sea Monkey inventor dies
Harold von Braunhut, the inventor of
Sea Monkeys and
X-ray specs, has
has died. Insert "instant life" joke here.
RIAA subpoenas thrown out
In a fairly startling development, the D.C. circuit court
threw out almost 3000 of the RIAA's subpoenas which sought the identities of alleged file-swappers. While I'm not going to defend illegal file swapping, the RIAA's short-sighted, heavy-handed approach is so appalling, I revel in every setback they suffer. Over 10 million people purchased legal music dowloads in the second quarter of this year. Even
Wal-Mart is getting into the act. If they are buying 88 cent songs in the heartland, I think the RIAA can relax a little bit.
Frodo Lives!
Just got back from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and my one word review of the Return of the King is as follows: perfect.
Return of the King
So, my cousin has already seen it, and summed it up with this three word review, "Best...movie...ever." She also mentioned something about it making her want to beat George Lucas over the head with one of the reels from the Phantom Menace, but I digress. I will be attending Trilogy Tuesday, so I will probably be quite ill on Wednesday from eating nothing but movie concession food for 13 hours.... In the meanwhile, if you really want to torture yourself, download the
Return of the King TV spot. It shows you just enough of everything to tease you half to death.
Enter the Meatrix
No, that's not a typo.
The Meatrix is a cartoon produced by
bancruelfarms.org to educate the public about factory farming. Although it strikes me as something that should be introduced by
Troy McClure it makes some valid points.
When Seals Attack!!! (Seriously.)
Check out Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom this Sunday on
Animal Planet to see some
very scary seals. I should have realized that anything called a leopard seal was probably not so cute and cuddly, but I had no idea these guys hunted penguins. I thought they were called leopard seals because of the spots. They apparently play with their food, too, which is a gruesome sight.
Worst...friend...ever
OK, so I changed the layout of my blog, and the only links I put on the sidebar were the ones I could remember off the top of my head.
userfriendly.org is very easy to remember.
http://www.und.edu/instruct/weinstei/ not so much.
At any rate, in doing so, I inadvertently left out the link to my best and oldest friend's page,
Dr. Jack's Philosophy Page!. I hereby apologize and beg for forgiveness. I only have about three regular readers, including him, so I can't afford to offend. You'll notice the link is now prominently posted.
