First wild born black-footed ferret found
OK, so this may not seem like big news, but a wild born black-footed ferret has been found in Colorado. Black-footed ferrets, distant cousins to my beloved domestic ferrets were thought to be extinct in the early 80s. Every black-footed ferret in the wild today is a descendant of 18 ferrets scooped up from Wyoming to join a captive-breeding program, and save the species. All the ferrets released into the wild are microchipped, so the discovery of a female with no chip confirms that the little guys are breeding in the wild. Go ferrets!

if you kept that would be soooooooo cool mabye we can email each other my email is:Ferretgirl2008@gmail thanks for sharing send some photos!!!!!!!!!

There is actually controversy about the ones released in S. Dakota.. they ended up exploding in population after their initial release. Speculation presents the idea that there were already lots of them out there, but they were just too good at hiding from us so we didin't know about them. Guess it takes one to find one... given the average domestic ferret, I'd say that their wild relations are the perfect match for a game of "go find the wild fuzzies"
