Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview
Microsoft hss released the Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview, which includes tabbed browsing, RSS, an integrated search box and security updates. To which Firefox users everywhere reply, "And?" Get Firefox!

Update: I downloaded the beta, because I just can't resist the opportunity to beta test anything, and well, it's not awful. I think for most Firefox users it's too little too late, but for people who fear alternative browsers, it provides some much-needed features in a familiar format.

Note to self:Do not run a beta version of Internet Explorer and a beta version of Google Toolbar simultaneously. Bad things seem to happen, especially with Gmail.

Report Raises Possibility That Snails Fly
I think the headline to this Animal Planet News story is a little misleading, as they don't actually know how certain snail species have travelled from Europe to the Azores. I just couldn't let such a great headline go to waste.

  Puffer Fish vs. Otter
National Geographic has a great video of an otter attempting to make a meal of a puffer fish. No otters or puffer fish were harmed in the filming of this video.

Poison...poison...tasty fish...

  West Wing canceled
According to TV Squad, the West Wing has been canceled. Apparently the cancellation predates the untimely death of John Spencer. I have mixed feelings about this. It is probably long overdue, as the show has never recovered from the loss of Aaron Sorkin and Rob Lowe, and probably would not have survived the loss of Leo's character, but it was always a smart show, and those are few and far between. I'll have to console myself by watching Battlestar Galactica.

Boing Boing: Peeling bananas from the other end is easier
I really don't know how we all survived before the internet. I just learned this today from Boing Boing:

Peeling bananas from the other end is easier
I've been opening my bananas stem-side first all my life. On Friday, David showed me how monkeys open bananas. They pinch them on the other end. Boy, it's a lot easier. I'll never open a banana the dumb way again.
