Simpsons 'trump' First Amendment

According to the BBC News, most Americans know more about the Simpsons than they do about the First Amendment. My favorite part? "About one in five thought the right to own a pet was one of the freedoms." By comparison, only one person in a thousand could name all five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment, but it all fairness, "petition for redress of grievances" isn't the catchiest of freedoms, is it?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

If you'd like to read more about the First Amendment, go to the First Amendment Center. Now who says blogs aren't educational?
