11 Reasons Why I Didn’t Completely Hate the ‘Star Wars’ Prequels
The excellent all around geeky entertainment news site Geeks of Doom has a list of 11 Reasons Why I Didn’t Completely Hate the ‘Star Wars’ Prequels. I was glad to see that I am not the only geek who admits to not hating the prequels. Sure, there are things that we all agree could have done better (every scene with Natalie Portman and Hayden Christensen, for example) but I honestly do not think they are bad movies. Everyone my age is going to have a hard time comparing them favorably to the original trilogy, but there are things on the list that I agree are great, including the opening battle sequence and final light saber battle in RotS.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. I have watched Phantom Menace more than any of the other prequels. And my official position is that from the pod race onwards, the movie is EXCELLENT. it is exciting and interesting.

The problem with the movie is that most of the lousy parts occur in the first 1/3 (or 1/4), and so people think of it as boring and annoying. And yes, Jar Jar is annoying through the whole move, but because the first part is so Jar Jar heavy, this makes us predisposed to be annoyed by him whenever he gets on screen. And this annoyance is out of proportion to screen time.

I have actually found Attack of the Clones to be the least watchable in terms of multiple viewings. Revenge of the Sith is the best, certainly, but it is super dark. Phantom Menace (from the pod race onwards), is plain old fun and exciting.

So there you go. Let the haters attack.
